The Boundless Love Project, in collaboration with Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light (MNIPL), are organizing a socially distant protest by people of faith at the MPCA office. Here is MNIPL’s description of the event:
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency seems ready to issue the final permits for construction of the Line 3 pipeline, abdicating responsibility for the climate impact of 50 coal-fired power plants in greenhouse gases that the pipeline threatens. As people rooted in diverse faith and spiritual traditions, we are calling on Commissioner Bishop to summon the courage to deny the Line 3 permits and stand up with us for water, treaty rights, and a safe climate.
Join us from 10-11am Friday, November 6th at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency offices in St. Paul (520 Lafayette Road) for song, art, and prayerful presence standing for our future at this critical decision point. Leaders will call on Commissioner Bishop to make the right decision for Minnesota, and we will stage a balloon-pop symbolic of her ability to end this life-threatening project with the stroke of a pen.
Masks and social distancing required at this outdoor event. Dress warm and in any clergy attire (if applicable) and bring your faith community! Street parking and some limited lot parking available.
