For this week we will be continuing our celebration of Indigenous People’s Day. If possible, please print out this PDF to aid you in joining us for our annual ritual of The Words the Come Before All Else. This ritual is a beautiful gift from the Haudenosaunee (pronounced: who-DIN-oh-show-nee) people to all of the people, animals, and life forms of the world. The Haudenosaunee people encourage non-Indigenous people to use this ritual, which is why we practice it in honor of Indigenous People’s Day.
At our meetings we practice using nonviolent communication. To help you with this, please download this two page PDF, print it out, read it, and bring it to our group meditations. This resource can then be referred to and help you to find the feelings and the universal needs behind them that you wish to communicate. For a more in-depth understanding of nonviolent communication, read or listen to the audio book of Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life by Marshall Rosenberg.
Our time together generally includes the following:
A thirty-minute guided meditation.
A one-off talk, a reading/discussion, a mindfulness activity, or a combination of these things. Please bring a journal and pen or pencil to use for activities requiring writing and journaling.
Announcements.

Tips for Enjoying the Virtual Group Meditation
Do what you can to create a peaceful, calm environment where you will not be distracted or disturbed. We will be doing a guided meditation, so you will want to create a safe, quiet, calm environment that will help you remain focused.
Watch in a secluded room, or with others who are joining you for the meditation. Politely ask others in your household to not disturb you while attending the group meditation.
If you are watching this on a computer, put your computer in "do not disturb" mode.
Turn off or silence your phones.
Set aside all papers, magazines, books, mail, and other things that will distract you.
Find a chair or cushion where you can sit comfortably still during the 30 minute meditation.
Adjust the volume to where you can hear clearly. You may want to use earbuds if there is background noise where you are.
Feel free to close your eyes during the meditation and the talk and listen with an open heart and open mind. Try to feel and understand the reality to which the words point.
Your feedback about how it went for you is important and will be taken into consideration. Please feel free to give us your feedback using our Feedback Form.
Thank you and be well!
